The greenest peninsula
The Samana peninsula, in the country’s northeast, is one of the most spectacular and least crowded corners of the Dominican Republic. Jungle-covered mountains dropping onto postcard beaches, coconut palms to the horizon and a slow pace of life make it a paradise for nature lovers.
Every year, between January and March, thousands of humpback whales arrive in Samana Bay to mate and give birth, in one of the most impressive natural spectacles in the Caribbean.
Waterfalls and islands
El Limon Waterfall, a 40-meter cascade hidden in the jungle, is reached on foot or horseback. Cayo Levantado, known as Bacardi Island, and the beaches of Las Terrenas and Playa Rincon, repeatedly ranked among the world’s best, complete the offering.
