Santo Domingo is about three hours west of Punta Cana, and the Colonial Zone at the heart of it is the oldest surviving European settlement in the Americas. UNESCO listed it in 1990 and it is still a normal, lived-in neighbourhood.

You walk it with a licensed guide: the first cathedral built in the Americas, the Alcázar de Colón where Diego Colón lived, Calle Las Damas, Parque Colón and the fortress looking out over the Ozama river.

Lunch is a proper Dominican sit-down meal in the old town, followed by free time for coffee, amber, larimar or cigars before the drive back.

Guests staying in Cap Cana meet us at the Cap Cana Information Center, next to the main security gate. At most hotels we pick you up at the security gate, not the lobby.

Staying in an Airbnb or a residential area? Walk to the nearest hotel gate or to one of our meeting points and we will take it from there. You can also drive straight to the ranch if you prefer.

You receive your exact pickup time and spot the night before. Pickup usually happens one hour before your tour, up to an hour and a half in high season or for hotels farther out.

Please be at your pickup point ten minutes early. The driver calls your name three times; if nobody answers it counts as a no-show, which is non-refundable and cannot be rescheduled.
